About Tyler
Tyler is a 12 year old motorbike racer from Leeds. He has always loved motorbikes and had a keen interest in anything with an engine from being very small. He loves racing and also the mechanical side of racing, understanding the science of it and how the components of a race bike work etc. He often works on bikes at home, learning how to fix things, taking them apart to find out how they work and rebuilding them.
Tyler’s racing journey began in 2021 when he visited Mini GP Racing Yorkshire. The team there were fantastic and taught Tyler the basics of race craft and how to ride a Mini Blata bike. Tyler loved every minute and we knew we’d found his passion. He went on to complete the Rookie academy there and his riding really progressed. We made the decision to take him racing and he was offered a sponsorship with Mini GP Racing as Kevin and the team had been impressed with his progress and development throughout the academy.
2022 Tyler made his racing debut at FAB Racing in the AC40 Rookies class. He had an amazing first season, learning every round and finished 8th overall out of 30 Rookies despite mums mechanical knowledge needing some improvement and still having a lot to learn about bike set up.
2023 was another season at FAB and split between the AC40 Pros, moving up into the Metrakit 50 class midway through the season. Tyler much preferred the bigger, geared bike and it suited him, but we were still struggling with mechanical issues and bike set up. Late 2023, Tyler was offered a wild card entry at the final Freetech Round of the season on a CBR125. 10 years old at the time, Tyler was the youngest rider on the grid and had never ridden a full size, 17” wheel bike before. He wasn’t fazed and was in his element, finishing on the podium in 3rd place against some well-established, much more experienced riders. An amazing achievement that caught the attention of Ian Denny and Dean Weight at DWRacing.
2024 Tyler was offered a sponsored ride with DWRacing in the Freetech Junior Cup on a CBR125. With Ian and Dean on board, looking after the bike set up and mum no longer struggling with the mechanics, Tylers riding went from strength to strength throughout the season. He was 3rd in the championship at the penultimate round but unfortunately was unable to make the final double points round in Spain meaning he just missed out on the podium for the season and finished 4th overall.
2025 Tyler continued his journey with the fantastic support of DWRacing. He moved over to the British Minibikes Championship on a GSXR125, and the NBS Endurance Championship on the CBR125. Tyler won his first British Championship in the Mini GP 17” Class at BMB with a clean sweep, winning every race he entered this season.
2026 Tyler will continue to be supported by DWRacing and will be competing in the Bemsee Team green Junior Cup on a Kawasaki Ninja 400 from June 2026 as soon as he completes his ACU licence. He’ll also be entering various ACU rounds on the GSXR125 and NBS Endurance rounds on the CBR125.
